Question Number: 27449Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 5/19/2013RE: Competive Adult Andrew of Sydney, New South Wales Australia asks...During a game a player was substituted. In the technical area the substituted player took offence to being substituted and grabbed the coach aggressively by his shirt and threatened to strike the coach before being restrained by his team mates. Can a player be sent off if a player commits violent conduct off the field of play? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Andrew
Substitutes or substituted players remain under the control of the referee. If the substituted player committed violent conduct against his coach then he should be dismissed and removed from the technical area.
