Question Number: 27548League Specific 6/23/2013RE: Adult Tony Biddo of Liverpool, Merseyside England asks...Is luis suarez's 10 game ban worldwide or just in England . ie. if he is transferred to another fa (Spain for example ) will he still be banned ? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Tony
The matter is covered in FIFA's Regulations for the Status and Transfer of Players and I quote
'' Any disciplinary suspension imposed on a player prior to a transfer
must be enforced or applied by the new association at which the
player is registered. The former association is obliged to notify the new
association of any sanction in writing and upon issuing the ITC.''
So Luis Suarez will be required to serve the remainder of his suspension should he transfer to another club and that applies worldwide.
The most recent high profile case was Joey Barton who had to serve part of his FA ban in France after his transfer from QPR.
