Question Number: 27558Law 17 - Corner Kick 6/25/2013RE: Adult Kevin of Toronto , ON Canada asks...Can an attacker play the ball, if he took a corner,the ball hit the post, and came right back to him without touching any other player on the pitch. Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Kevin
The answer is no. The player cannot touch the ball again until it has been touched by another player. The restart is an IDFK from where the player touched the ball for a 2nd time.
Same would apply to a penalty kick that comes back to the kicker off the frame of the goal. It cannot be played by the same player until it is touched by another player.
