Question Number: 27564

League Specific 6/28/2013

RE: Competitive College

Megan of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia Canada asks...

Just something I was wondering about the other day: According to rules here in Nova Scotia, Canada, what would happen to a club's teams if the club was to fold mid-season?

Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol

This would need to be covered by your league and club rules.

Since you probably get insurance through the club, if there's no club there's no insurance. Not a good situation. Here in the US that would be disastrous for all concerned in the event of a lawsuit.

Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh

Hi Megan
Should be covered in the competition rules. What generally happens is that all the results involving that team are expunged from the League tables. The club is fined and it may be prevented from entering other competitions for a period of time. Disciplinary action taken against players would still continue to be counted though.
