Question Number: 27681Law 4 - Players Equipment 8/22/2013RE: Competive Under 17 Heather of Randolph, MA USA asks...Hi, I am a junior in high school. I play on my schools varsity soccer team and i have gauged ears(size 2g). I just have a few questions regarding the rules: 1. Will this stop me from being able to play? 2. Will I have to tape up my ears to cover the hole? Please respond as soon as possible, thank you. Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Heather Once earrings are removed there is no issue and there is no restriction on playing in the game. There is no requirement to tape and in fact it is best if tape is not used as the referee can then see that there are no earrings present.

Referees will assume there is jewelry underneath any taped earring. I agree with Ref McHugh that you are better off not taping them.
