Question Number: 27930Law 15 - Throw In 10/23/2013RE: High School Bob of Whitma,, Mass USA asks...Throw-in Team A takes throw-in but it never enters the field. Is it a retake or is it awarded to team B Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh H i Bob In a NFHS game if, on the throw-in, the ball fails to enter the field of play before it touches the ground, the ball is awarded to the opponent at the spot of the infraction. So the TI is awarded to B. In a FIFA / USSF game it is a retake by Team A.

Under TLOG, if the mechanics of the throw were otherwise proper , the throw-in is retaken if the ball touches the ground before entering the field of play.
