Question Number: 28074Law 6 - Assistant Referee 12/21/2013RE: rec Other kaya of basseterre, st. kitts and nevis asks...The assistant referee has the authority to; Send a team official who abuses you away from the Technical Area? Ensure that no unauthorised person enters the field of play? Act as timekeeper? Check a substitutes equipment? Indicate to the Referee when a player may be penalised for being offside? Indicate to the Referee when a team wishes to make a substitution? Enter the field of play to help control the 9.15m restart distance? Answer provided by Referee Dennis Wickham Kaya: some of these are powers/duties of the referees and some are powers/duties of the assistant referee. The easiest way to differentiate them is to think about the title - ASSISTANT - which ones are providing assistance to the referee? The full list of powers and duties of an assistant referee are in law 6.
