Question Number: 28252Law 11 - Offside 3/13/2014RE: competive Under 14 MORRIS PARRAS of Hamilton, Ontario Canada asks...Can a player be offside when their goal keeper kicks the ball from his net? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Morris A player cannot be offside directly from any restart where the ball has left the field of play. That includes goal kicks, corner kicks or throw ins Offside is also a team concept so that a player can only be offside when the ball is played by one of his team . When the ball is deliberately played by an opponent there cannot be offside. While slightly out of date this FIFA presentation on offside will assist you http://www.fifa.com/lotg/football/en/flash/start.html

View Referee Joe McHugh profileAnswer provided by Referee Dennis Wickham Coach: it's not clear what you mean by "kicking from his net"? If you mean at a goal kick, the answer is no. There is no offside when the ball is received directly from a goal kick. When the ball is in play, a player (in offside position) who receives the ball after a keeper's punt can be offside.
