Question Number: 28287

Law 10 - Method of Scoring 3/29/2014

RE: Travel Under 13

Shawn of Chambersburg, Pa USA asks...

Two questions, can a goal be scored from your own half of the pitch. Second can the keeper score on a punt if there's no other contact with the ball? Thanks!!!

Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh

Hi Shawn
Once the ball is in play a goal can be scored from any part of the field of play. That include a punt from the goalkeeper. If the ball can be kicked far enough a goal can be scored directly from a goal kick.

Answer provided by Referee Dennis Wickham

Yes. A goal can legally be scored from any part of the field, including a keeper's punt or throw. (Note: some specialty (small sided) matches use very small fields sometimes adopt local rules that affect how far the keeper can punt and throw the ball.)
