Question Number: 28337Law 15 - Throw In 4/14/2014RE: rec Under 7 pedro of Paterson, NJ usa asks...If a player has both feet planted, can he fake a throw in if the ball is released over his head? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi. Pedro I'm not sure what your questions refers to. The referee on all throws in will endeavour to ensure that the ball is thrown as per the correct procedure. At underage if it looks 'close' to correct I believe that the referee should allow play to continue. Always remember that it is a simple way of restarting the game and sometimes a throw in can look awkward / different yet is in fact legal. I sometimes get annoyed with appeals for ' foul throw' which is a weak attempt for a turn over of possession. I only turns over throws where the player is clearly on the field of play, taken a distance from the correct location or the ball is dropped rather than thrown.

At higher levels, it is common to have multiple targets for the throw and for the thrower to fake towards one and then throw the ball toward the other.
