Is the goalie the only one that can take goal kick ?

Hi Chris,

It's called a 'goal kick' because it's the restart when the ball crosses the 'goal line' after being last touched by an attacker.

Any player can take the goal kick, not just the goalkeeper. Also, any number of defenders may remain inside the Penalty Area, but none can touch the ball until it leaves the Penalty Area. All attackers must remain outside the PA.

Hi Chris
Any player from the defending team can take a goal kick. The ball though is only in play when it leaves the penalty area.
