Question Number: 28553League Specific 6/26/2014RE: Rec College shree of pokhara, pokhara Nepal asks...In a world cup, who qualifies to the second round if all matches within a group end 0-0 ? Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol In the extremely unlikely event that every match ends up 0-0, then all the tie-breaking criteria listed by my colleague would also remain equal. I believe in that case they are reduced to casting lots to select the teams that will advance.

View Referee Gary Voshol profileAnswer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Shree This was asked by another questioner recently In the league format, the ranking in each group is determined as follows: a) greatest number of points obtained in all group matches; b) goal difference in all group matches; c) greatest number of goals scored in all group matches. If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, their rankings shall be determined as follows: d) greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned e) goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned; f) greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned; g) the goals scored away from home count double between the teams concerned (if the tie is only between two teams).
