Question Number: 28588Kicks From The Penalty mark 7/10/2014RE: Adult david of DUBLIN, ireland asks...in a penalty shoot-out the keeper saves the penalty but the ball then spins back into the net is it a goal or not goal Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol Yes, that would be a goal. The penalty kick is not over until the momentum imparted by the kick is spent. It has happened several times before. On another of our questions there is a video of it where the goalkeeper blocked the initial shot, and while celebrating he didn't notice the backspin on the ball sent it into the net.

Here is an example Penalty Kick Morocco 2010 http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_6-4vyrtWd8 The ball clearly crossed the goal line from the momentum imparted from the original kick.
