Question Number: 28964Law 16 - Goal Kick 11/10/2014RE: competitive Under 14 david morris of seal beach, ca usa asks...On a goal kick, if the kicker takes the kick prior to all attackers exciting the penalty area... I.e. a fast restart for tactical reasons... is the restart good or does it have to be redone? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi David
It is a good restart and the referee should allow play to continue. It should only be retaken if the ball is touched by a player from either team inside the penalty area before it exits.

If the defender sees an advantage on not waiting for the attacker then he should be allowed to take opportunity of this. Play continues like normal if the defender takes the kick while attackers are still in the Penalty Area.
