Question Number: 29058Law 14 - Penalty kick 12/17/2014RE: AYSO Under 15 Scott of Pico Rivera, ca usa asks...Let's say we have one of those oddball moments in Kicks from the Penalty Mark where the goalie blocks the shot and starts celebrating while, behind his back, the ball gets some backspin and rolls into the goal. Suppose the referee is the only one to notice that the ball went in. The goalie's team is too busy celebrating and the kicking team's players have buried their faces in their hands. How does the referee signal that the shot was good? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Scott Have a look at both of the videos which show the type of situation you refer to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5ybOqQm59Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPQoRL0CJSc In both instances the referee simply informed the players that a goal had in fact been scored. There is no official goal signal in Kicks from the Penalty Mark. The referee though should clearly inform that the goal was scored. In both situations there is in my opinion little doubt that the referee awarded the goals.
