RE: Rec / Select Under 13

Brad of Plymouth, Michigan United States asks...

What is/are the proper signal for a corner kick for a CR? LOTG does not provide this for a CR specifically, but in reality even U-12 - U-14 Select players are more often looking to CR than AR for this signal. I have seen two 'flavors' of this signal from a CR: the first (which is seemingly more appropriate) is duplicating the AR signal, while the second looks more like a direct kick signal, but pointed towards the appropriate corner.

My observation as a coach is that I prefer the latter from a CR, along with a 'horizontal arm' (mirroring the AR) for a goal kick. The CR 'mirroring' the two AR signals tends to be ambiguous since he is not so clearly pointing to a location (since he's in the field, and not on a touchline). The raised arm is quite distinct, thus making clear to both coaches and all players just what the call is. Is there any consensus suggestion, or other guidance of which I am unaware?

Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh

Hi Brad
The proper signal for a corner kick is a raised arm (45 degrees) pointing at the corner flag.
