Question Number: 30030Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 1/18/2016RE: AYSO Under 15 Jeff Banks of Captain Cook, HI usa asks...On a pass back from a teammate with a kick, can the goalie trap the ball with chest or gain control with his head and then pick it up with his hands? Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Hi Jeff, NO, the ball was deliberately kicked to the keeper by the team mate NOTHING has changed since that occurred to lift the non handling restriction. An opponent touching the ball , a deflection off a team mate or a non deliberate kick pass with a different body part of team mate could permit the use of hands. Cheers

View Referee Richard Dawson profileAnswer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Jeff No that is not possible. The restriction of the goalkeeper touching the ball with his hands continues until the ball is again played / touched by an opponent or by a team mate in a manner that the goalkeeper can use his hands such as a header, chest etc. It is also not possible to circumvent this Law with a trick.
