Question Number: 30130

Law 17 - Corner Kick 2/21/2016

RE: Under 12

Ian of London, UK asks...

At a corner kick the ball is kicked and goes out of play- behind the goal line without touching another player. Is kick re taken or goal kick awarded?

Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh

Hi Ian
The restart is a goal kick. The reason is that the ball starts ON the field of play in the corner quadrant and it is kicked OFF the field. Once the ball is kicked and moves the ball is in play and it is last touched by the attacking team the restart is a goal kick to the defending team

Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson

Hi Ian ,
a corner kick requires the ball to be set in or on the corner arc which means it starts on the FOP thus if it is kicked over the goal line it is a goal kick for the opposition!
Cheers
