I am a technical analyst for my team. I need to anlyze the match for my coach. I use a smart phone with an application to tag events of the game.
I asked an international FIFA referee at my association, if it is allowed. He said NO electronic device whatsoever (ipad, phone...etc) is allowed ON THE TECH. AREA !
Can you confirm this, please?
My next option is to sit with the crowds and do my job.

Hi Mahmood
The use of tracking, GPS equipment can be used yet the information cannot be available in the technical area. The Laws state that where electronic performance and tracking systems (EPTS) are used (subject to the agreement of the national football association/competition organiser): # they must not be dangerous #  information and data transmitted from the devices/systems is not permitted to be received or used in the technical area during the match
The use of any form of electronic communication between players (including substitutes/substituted and sent off players) and/or technical staff is not permitted.
In addition using an iPad, phone for certain tasks is not an issue. For instance showing a player tactical plays on a device etc is not prohibited. I see no issue about using say PowerPoint to remind a player of what is required of him tactically. The prohibition relates to communication and current match data
So there is no issue about doing your role as long as the info is not made available to the technical area staff. Most Pro teams only use the info after the game to assess performances, tactics etc,
