Question Number: 30527Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 6/20/2016RE: Rec Adult Russell of Sydney, Australia asks...Keen to hear your thoughts on the penalty awarded in the Sporting Kansas City v FC Dallas match just played.
The footage I have seen is not close nor clear, however, it looks like a dive, but hen, the defenders don't seem to upset about the call.

I have watched it several times and I am not sure. There appears to be contact on the attacker and no doubt he feels that contact which makes him go to ground. Was there enough contact to do that? It looks soft yet the referee had a good angle of view and there appeared to be little debate from the defenders which would make one assume that there was foul contact.
In the modern game players know that once there is contact without playing the ball that there is every chance of a foul.
