Question Number: 30652Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 8/7/2016RE: Amator Adult aymen of KHOURIBGA, KHOURIBGA MOROCCO asks...If a substitute entered into the field and committed a foul against the opponent , how shall the referee resume the game , a direct or Indirect free kick thank you Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Aymrn Under the *old* laws it was an IDFK. Since the 1st July 2016 the restart is now a direct free kick. The answer is on page 36 of the new IFAB Law Book. During the transition period leagues that had commenced before the 1st July continue with the old laws.

View Referee Joe McHugh profileAnswer provided by Referee James Sowa It depends under which interpretation of the Laws of the Game you are playing. If the competition is still under the old LOTG, then it would be an IFK. For competitions starting post June 1, 2016 (ie EURO 2016, Copa America, The Olympics, etc...) the restart would be a DFK. On the local level, it is up to the league to determine under which interpretation they are playing at the moment.
