Question Number: 30740Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 9/9/2016RE: Adult Haji Hussain Jan of Muscat, Muscat Oman asks...If a ball going toward goal and the goalkeeper cannot reach it so he throws an object to deny the goal. So what ahould ref do and how it restarts. (Is there a seprete rule for goalkeeper). Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Haji Yes the law is separate for the goalkeeper in that it cannot be deliberate handling inside the penalty area. The restart is an indirect free kick after the goalkeeper is cautioned for unsporting behaviour. In the case of an outfield player the restart is a penalty kick and a red card if the action denied a goal.
