Question Number: 30746Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 9/10/2016RE: Intermediate Under 14 Phil of Tarzana, CA United States asks...This question is a follow up to question 30729 Just one additional point. The original poster mentioned about getting a red card in the tunnel. I know that a player can be sent off for fighting, etc. in the tunnel, but I thought that cards were not shown. Also, that player can't play, but the team doesn't play short...they can use a substitute, according to Law 3.6. Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Phil You are correct and cards are not shown off the field of play. The question has been updated in that cautions are not carried into the game just reported. This was clarified in the Q&A provided in the Laws update. ** Why can a referee send off (RC) but not caution (YC) a player before kick-off? Red card offences are serious and players who commit such offences should not play in the match but it would become complicated if a caution (YC) could be given pre-match as people would not know that a player has a caution (YC) when the match starts. It is better that these offences are reported.**
