Question Number: 31103Other 12/10/2016RE: local Under 17 DG of Liverpool, Merseyside England asks...Can a referee, who refereed your game last week, and sent a player off, come from another pitch adjacent and tell the minor (under 16) that he shouldnt be playing as he was sent off last week? The ban does not kick in for another week (league have verified this!)He then attempted to tell the referee who was in charge of this sending off and attempted to get him removed. This delayed both games and was completely wrong factually and surely ethically aswell? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi This should not happen. It is of no concern to the referee who is playing in a game and it is a matter solely for the League. The referee has certainly overstepped his responsibilities in this matter. There can be many reasons why a player may not be suspended for a game which includes a different competition, the sending off has been rescinded, timing of the suspension etc. The team if it plays a suspended player will be dealt with by the league and it is of no concern to the referee should they to do so. Even if he was refereeing the game involving the player it should be of no concern to him, The matter could be reported by the club to the League.

View Referee Joe McHugh profileAnswer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Hi DG, Hmm sounds as if this referee was a tad slighted or irritated over what transpired LAST week and thought to speak up and make known based on his own displeasure. The referee is in charge of his match! He is NOT in charge of the league. He has definitely reached WAY beyond his mandate and this incident requires league intervention and instruction to this individual to prevent a reoccurrence. . Cheers & Merry Christmas
