Question Number: 31236

Law 4 - The Players Equipment 2/7/2017

RE: Semi pro Adult

Eric Ford Sestili of Adelaide , South Australia Australia asks...

When players wear another sock on top of their soccer sock I know it has to be the same colour. But those ant slip socks (trusox) with the spots on them. Eg team wear white socks with white trusox over the top with black spots on the back of the ankle does the player have to remove it.

Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh

Hi Eric
First off I would not get concerned about the black dots on white.
Second it is an easy decision if the sock colour is white and the trussox is white. That is not an issue.
Now if the player does this correctly the only part of the trussox that should be showing is around the angle. If the correct colour tape is used which is the same as the main sock then there is no issue even if the trussock is different colour from the main sock.. It is an issue if the trussock comes up high on the shin
You will notice that modern sock boots with the integrated sock will also cover the ankle and seen as part of the lower sock. Again not an issue.
Here is an example of a player in a white trussock and green sock with tape.

Referee had no issue with this in the game.
