Question Number: 31242Law 5 - The Referee 2/9/2017RE: Rec Adult Russell of Sydney, Australia asks...This question is a follow up to question 31239 Not sure just how many years Ref Dawson had at the time of the match he mentions, but I know that I am only to start my sixth year shortly, and (thankfully) have not experienced a situation like the one that he (and Ref McHugh similarly) have. Fortunately, this sites ability to pass on experiences and lesson learnt is priceless, and I now know that should I come across something like this, I have the reference point of their experiences to call upon should I need to. Ref McHugh's comment about the potential for some to think 'lack of match control' as a reason to not abandon has just become another principle of what I want my match management to be based around. Cheers Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Russell Always do what is *best* for the game and the players using the LotG as the guide and one will not go too far wrong.
