Question Number: 31325

Law 11 - Offside 3/8/2017

Zluvka of Liberec, Czech Republic Czech Republic asks...

Hi,
I have one other question. It is about offside free kick rule change. Some people say, that the rule change is only if the offside is on own half of the field. On other half is still the place of this free kick in the offside position spot. True or false?

Answer provided by Referee Peter Grove

Hi Zuma,
This is false. The free kick should be taken from where the player became involved in active play, no matter which half they are in when that happens.

HI Zluvkia,
The INDFK occurs from the position of INVOLVEMENT be it in either half. The spot of the infraction!
Cheers
