This question is a follow up to question 31402

Wow - what a small and coincidental world we live in !

There I was thinking up an unlikely, or rather rare scenario (post 31401) based on something I had seen in Sydney Australia, and Daniel of Austin, Texas talks of essentially the very same situations actually happening in his area (post 31402).

I used to think that some questions that were listed as hypothetical and to test the Law would never happen. It was only through some questions posed on the site that I realised that they were not so far fetched as I thought.

just look at some of our convoluted you call it questions most are based on real life as murphy's law if it can go wrong it will! Eventually! lol

Hi Russell,
Knowing how to handle the 'once-in-a-blue-moon' scenarios can really be a test of a referee's understanding of the laws - but it's important to understand the laws enough to know how to respond to these scenarios, because these are the ones where it's easy to make an error in law (as in, applying the law incorrectly, as opposed to making a poor subjective decision or not recognising that something has happened) which can, depending on the league, lead to a match replay.
And can also harm your match control, as the players will no doubt have their idea of what they want to see happen which may or may not reflect what you can do within the laws.
