RE: High School

Mathias Lava of De Pinte, Belgie Belgium asks...

On several different Brazilian news sites, I'm reading that Manuel Seijas wants to leave Internacional SC for Chapecoense. Can he? Because the transfer window is only open until the end of March

Answer provided by Referee Peter Grove

Hi Mathias,
This is a site aimed primarily at answering questions relating to the Laws of the Game and/or refereeing techniques, advice etc. This is not a matter for a referee to decide and is not covered by the Laws, rather it is a matter for the national football association's rules in conjunction with FIFA regulations on the status and transfer of players.

Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh

Hi Mathias
This is a matter for the competition rules under which the player is signed. Most if not all ROCs have a transfer restriction period which means players can only move at certain times of the season.
I suspect that when a player says that he wants to move it means that he will do so at the end of the season or when the transfer windows opens. It will not happen until then which I believe will be 20th July from what I see on the web.
