Question Number: 31982Law 16 - The Goal Kick 11/2/2017RE: Adult Muhammad Rizwan of Abbottabad, Abbottabad Pakistan asks...Sir, Can a teammate gets the ball inside the penalty area during a quick goalkick? first I see that there is no restriction that how many players teammate or opp are in goal area but I heard that if a opponent or teammate collects the ball in goal area the goalkick should be retaken as its called dead area. what you say? Defending players can remain inside the penalty area at a goal kick. All attacking players must leave the penalty area.
For a ball to be in play at a goal kick it must leave the penalty area. If any player including a defending player touches the ball after the goal kick inside the penalty area before it is in play the kick is retaken.
