Question Number: 32227Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 2/10/2018RE: Under 18 mukul of Hoshiarpur, India asks...When a player uses his shoulder to control the ball, is it a foul? Answer provided by Referee Peter Grove Hi Mukul, If the player uses the shoulder, assuming that by that you mean the part of the body which is separate and distinct from the hand or arm, this is not an offence. The 'line of demarcation' between the arm and the shoulder is usually considered to be the point where you will normally find the shoulder seam on a shirt.

View Referee Peter Grove profileAnswer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Mukul A player cannot use his arm to control the ball. The arm extends from the tip of the fingers to the shoulder joint. Above that is not part of the arm from a handling perspective. So if a players uses his upper arm to control the ball that is deliberate handling. If he uses his chest and shoulder above the shoulder joint that is legal.
