Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 4/19/2018

RE: competitive Adult

Jiří Strmiska of Brno, Czechia Moravia asks...

So the striker advances alone on the goalkeeper, striker shoots and hits the keeper, and the ball bounces out of play, but the two players collide. Goalkeeper didn't really make the save, it was more like the striker hit him, and then got taken down. Is it a foul?

(here's the moment 6:01)

Hi
I saw the impact, it looks fairly benign the shot taken deflects off the keeper going wide and out of play The attacking forward goes into the keeper coming forward.

There is no doubt the keeper is instigating the contact while making the save by coming up into the striker who in trying to slide the ball around the keeper.
Lets give him give credit to his positioning the ball deflects off his body but his forward motion ends up with him intercepting the forward motion of the attacker.

It seem when a shot is taken and is headed into touch these types of contact are sort of accepted as punishment for missing the goal. There is no doubt if the contact occurs after the ball is out of play nothing will become of such a collision particularity as the keeper has made the save by contacting the ball..

If the ball was never contacted by the keeper the chances are his contact could lead to a PK trip at minimum . However, despite my impression the contact in your video was not of a extreme nature. If say the keeper had leapt with a ridged leg placing his foot into the chest of the attacker. I could send off the keeper for VC even if the ball is out of play 1st. If the ball was still not yet into touch then a PK and send off for SFP.
If I heard right I the whistle sounded to end the match? I thought I heard plea for a penalty by a couple of those on video?

Cheers

Hi
Very difficult to say here based on the video.
I can see this as no foul and a coming together after the challenge. I could also see this as a possible late contact by the goalkeeper on the attacker after the shot is taken which is a foul.
I do not think the manner of the contact is reckless and perhaps more of a coming together of two players committed with momentum bringing them together.
