Taking a throw in, the ball first lands outside the field of play then bounces into the playing area. Should play continue or should the throw be taken again or is it a foul throw and possession goes to the opposition?

Hi Keith
As described it is a retake. If a ball touches the ground outside the field of play before entering the field it is a retake provided the throw in was correctly taken.
It is a reasonable rare occurrence as generally the ball stays out if play when it happens

This would be a retake. Law 15 - The Throw-in, states:

''If the ball touches the ground before entering, the throw-in is retaken by the same team from the same position.''
