Question Number: 32472Other 5/26/2018RE: Intermediate Under 14 Phil of Tarzana, CA United States asks...This question is a follow up to question 32470 Thanks for all your insights. It's wonderful to get different perspectives from experienced referees. I can see that this is one of the most difficult aspects of judgement because you can lose both respect & control of the game. I can see that there are times when you have to stretch to also punish when you know that there was an instigator, not just retaliation, in order to be fair & prevent escalation. There are other times when all you can do is card the person retaliating & tell the 'instigator' that you'll be watching. Great site! Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson HI Phil, we are always glad to offer our opinions as unbiased neutral non-affiliated referees but remember we are not your USSF peers governing your actions or evaluating your abilities. Best to go to the local sources, state and national for the exact how to, as our views of a fix might not be in their view what they seek. I also think there is a very good Dutch blog site with a whole list of Q&A http://www.dutchreferee.com/laws-of-the-game-quiz/ cheers
