Question Number: 32483

Law 8 - The Start and Restart of Play 5/30/2018

RE: Rec & Comp

Raymond of SAN FRANCISCO, CA United States asks...

This question is a follow up to question 32481

Thank you for clarifying, gentlemen, and my bad for working off an old version of the LOTG! (Memo to self--before bothering the committee, go to IFAB and read carefully the latest edition, looking in particular at underlined segments of the laws ;-)!)

Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh

Hi Raymond
No problem. Happy to oblige. Changes to the LotG have been many and varied over the past number of years. We even had a few change by circular recently in 2017.
The new 2018/2019 Laws can be viewed on www.theifab.com

Answer provided by Referee Peter Grove

Hi Raymond,
No worries, mate. It can be hard at times to keep up with all the changes. You also have to be a little careful if refereeing in the US as the changes do not always come into effect in June as they do in most countries. If a country's season is ongoing, they can wait until the beginning of the next season to implement the changes.
