Question Number: 32555

Law 4 - The Players Equipment 6/30/2018

RE: Under 13

Leila of Denton, TX USA asks...

So i got my nose pierced 2 weeks ago and im asking if i put in a clear plastic nose ring in for games? Does it really matter if i wear a plastic one or no

Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson

HI Leila,
with any kind of visible piercings, you may be asked by a referee to remove it as in THEIR opinion it could be looked at as unacceptable jewelry that could result in an injury to yourself. I think best to remove it during play.
Cheers

Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh

Hi Leila
The question is whether the piecing is a danger to yourself. It is of little danger if any to another player.
Referees attention will be attracted to any piercing that is visible. The advice is that if it can be removed then that would be best. Otherwise the referee may ask you to remove it. Soft silicone inserts are available which are pliable and not dangerous if you need to have the piercing kept open.
