Of course I appreciate a WC ref is not gutless " clearly they are the most talented at understanding and implementing the LOTG " certainly light years better then I will every be. Just emphasising a point :)

But in a way Ref Dawson agrees if his comment of 'and how they are implemented is at times at odds.' is something to go by.

That is my point " how they are implemented.
I think the directive from above is what the issue is.

We all can live with marginal calls. If you need a video to confirm something, then just let it pass.

It just cuts me when something can be so blatant, so easy to see, so obvious " can be let to just slide by.

Anyways...

Here is different way a keeper has gained an advantage that is technically wrong, yet is likely to be even less seen as an issue " Jordan Pickfords' movements on a penalty.

I notice his first movement tends to be off the line backwards, before stepping forward to get extra forward momentum.

Of course the rules say..'The defending goalkeeper must remain on the goal line...'.

Few people are going to pull up a keeper that has a first movement backwards !!

BTW " Happy to look Nestor Pitana in the eye " he looks like he'd be an easy pushover, a real softy !!

One of the great difficulties for referees at this level is I imagine having every decision poured over and dissected with multiple camera angles etc.
The post match review at this level is also extremely detailed with video analysis and discussion. Also at this level referees take into account a lot more factors than they do at grassroots.
I could not really see Referee Kuipers disallowing the save during KFTPM in the Russia game unless the review showed out and out encroachment. It was marginal encroachment probably somewhat visible yet not the reason the penalty kick was missed.
