In a penalty shoot out what happens I the goal keeper saves the ball on to the post and the ball comes back on to the goalkeeper then goes into the goal

HI Simon,
as long as the referee has not incorrectly blown the whistle the result would be a goal. Play is not over until the keeper has ball possession, the ball goes out of play, the ball is motionless or has NO opportunity or chance to use its original momentum to enter the goal .

The referee awards a goal. There is a myth that rebounds off the frame of the goal does in some way ends the kick. Not so
The kick is over in KFTPM when the ball goes out of play or the momentum from the original kick is fully spent or the kicker touches the ball for a second time.

Hi Simon,
The penalty would count as having been scored. The law says that:

''The kick is completed when the ball stops moving, goes out of play or the referee stops play for any offence; the kicker may not play the ball a second time''
