Question Number: 32684

High School 9/3/2018

RE: High school High School

Maureen Parker of Grafton, Vermont asks...

Can you wear pre wrap in your hair. To keep the hair out of your face.

Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh

Hi Maureen
Hair control devices may be worn if made of soft material and not for adornment. Sweatbands may be worn on the head or wrist if made of soft material.
So I cannot see any issue with pre wrap being used as a hair control device. To me it is a band made of soft material and I doubt any referee in NFHS would have a problem with its use.

Answer provided by Referee Peter Grove

Hi Maureen,
Yes, you can wear pre wrap in your hair as a head band, so long as it is not dangerous in some way, which it should not be if done properly. In fact several members of the US Women's National Team use it.

Here are a couple of videos (one featuring Alex Morgan of the USWNT) that illustrate putting on a pre wrap headband.
