Question Number: 32724Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 9/18/2018RE: Premier Adult Tye of Brooklyn, CT United States asks...What would happen if a goalkeeper has the ball in their hands and dives and acts like an attacker has knocked into them. The situation would be like a goalkeeper waiting for an attacker to press before picking the ball up and when the attacker gets close the goalkeeper acts like the attacker has ran into them. Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson HI Tye , well if the referee was to decide that DID occur, the correct decision would be to award an INDFK against the keeper's team subject to the special circumstances within the goal area and show him a yellow card for USB. Cheers

Don't put up with this - the keeper is trying to get the attacker sent off, and that's a heinous act. Caution the keeper for USB and award an IFK to the opposition. Having said that, if the keeper has felt the need to do that, then for your own reflection, have a think about what may have lead to the keeper's decision here. There may have been some clashes earlier that the keeper is unhappy about.

View Referee Jason Wright profileAnswer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Tye It is called simulation which is a caution / yellow card and an IDFK restart. Angle of view is critical to see if there was no contact. In the recent Liverpool v Tottenham game I felt Firmino was exaggerating contact on his face by an opponents hand late in the game. The crowd also felt that there was limited contact if any. It looked innocuous enough however pictures of the incident showed that there was serious contact on his eye. So all may not be what it seems.
