Question Number: 32725Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 9/19/2018RE: Rec Adult Russell of Sydney, Australia asks...Foul recognition Please talk me through the foul given just after the 37 min mark in the Liverpool v PSG UCL match today. https://www.fullmatchesandshows.com/2018/09/18/liverpool-vs-paris-saint-germain-highlights-full-match/#2 Thanks Russell Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Russell I assume you mean the foul given to PSG just inside its own half? The video is limited yet he referee is well placed and he gives the foul. I am not sure what it was for yet could it be for the Liverpool player perhaps holding the PSG player in his attempt to shield the ball or indeed a slight bump / elbow?. Maybe he had a slight grip of his shirt at close quarters ? Was the referee dealing with what looked like impeding just before the ball arrived and no possible advantage with the ball headed away? Liverpool seemed surprised including the manager Klopp. On the face of it there did not look like a foul to me yet this is an experienced official and I would have no reason to doubt his call even if it is not plainly obvious.
