Question Number: 32901Character, Attitude and Control 11/29/2018RE: Rec Adult Russell of Sydney, Australia asks...This question is a follow up to question 32897 A follow up to the earlier question (32897). I'm of the same thinking. There is enough in it to make you think about it, however, probably not enough to make you stop play or not allow advantage. As Ref Dawson mentions, there probably is merit in a foul from each, but if there was a foul each, the first would be by the Man U attacker as Ref McHuGH indicates. One of those 'comings together' that can happen that 'asks' a question, but passes as just that - a question only. I do wonder though, if the ball had gone in the net, would there be more scrutiny of the passage of play. Probably. And probably with the same result of play on and goal. Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Russell Had a goal been scored I suspect the defending team would have complained more bitterly to the referee than actually transpired given the outcome resulted in a goal kick. Having said that the goal would have been awarded despite any protests.
