Question Number: 34Law 17 - Corner Kick RE: Under 12 Mark Elson of , England asks...How much time should I be allowing players to set up for a corner kick? Answer provided by Referee glenn The spirit of the game requires that as refs we ensure that the game keeps moving. Time wasting should never be tolerated if it is intentional. ..Age is a factor with me when considering what I will tolerate on setups for corner kicks. There is no prescribed time defined in the laws of the game for corners...Some youth teams will take more time than others just because they are more inexperienced. Sometimes just retrieving the ball from out of play will take more time...I would encourage you to exercise Law 18, Common Sense when dwelling on this one. Kids are kids, its more important to play than to get trifling with a call

View Referee glenn profileAnswer provided by Referee Victor Matheson You don't need to give the defending team any time to set up. The offense has the right to start as soon as they want. ..Give the kicking team a "reasonable" amount of time to set up, but try to keep them from wasting time, especially late in the game with a close score. Otherwise, I completely agree with Jim Glenn: use common sense.
