Question Number: 35846Law 9 - The Ball in and out of Play 12/23/2024RE: Competitive Adult Peter Babbahe of Hjorring , Denmark asks...The ball hits the referee who is on the goal line from a shot by the attacker. It was clearly going into the goal otherwise. Is this a drop ball or does the ball go to the keeper? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Peter Red face for the referee.
The only possible decision is an uncontested drópped Ball to the goalkeeper inside the goal area.
It would be preceded by a sincere apology by the referee. I doubt any team is going to kick the drópped ball into the goal in a Fair Play gesture to correct the mistake by the referee.

The post game assessments & peer reviews would certainly question the positioning to have created such an event. The DB restart to the keeper for such an event if inside the PA . Cheers
