Question Number: 14036Law 1- The Field 10/4/2006RE: High School College Bob Wong of Walnut Creek, CA USA asks...The other day I refeereed a high school soccer game and the field was littered with thousands of goose droppings. Goose droppings are quite big, about 4 inches long. The field was dry but my cleats were filled with the droppings. I refused to touch the ball.
Was there a safety hazard, airborne pathogens or avian flu, with such a field?
Answer provided by Referee Ben Mueller I agree...in high school the host team is responsible for the field.
