Question Number: 14713

Law 5 - The Referee 1/20/2007

RE: Adult

koutsiaftis aristomenis of arta, arta Greece asks...

This question is a follow up to question 14701

My referee teachers said the same things with what you told me but there are some other referees from higher championships that argue with them.
They say that I shouldn't write in game sheet only "..all the players of both teams start boxing and kicking each other..." but i should write three or some of one team and some from the other".I know in the 5th article "Referee" law says that when referee is not in condition to recognise all the involved players in general fight stops the game definitely and report the incident to the league. And I am wondering when ALL are guilty of violent behaviour why to save some with not mention their names, and accuse some others with writing them in the report.I hope i understand the law correct.
Same incidents I watch only in TV from games of Latin America unfortunately i don't know what they write in their reports.
You know better, please write me back .

Answer provided by Referee Ben Mueller

The more specific, the better. Write down exact number and exact actions that the players did. Report to the league what started the "fight" and everything that you know. If you just write "three players from the blue team", then they cannot discipline certain players and your report will be less powerful.
