Question Number: 15792

Kicks From The Penalty mark 6/13/2007

RE: Select Under 19

Lee of South Okanagan, B.C. Canada asks...

This question is a follow up to question 15724

To add to Question 15724..at a final game of U18 boys in a tourney recently, I watched two keepers alternate during the kicks from the marks with such enthusiasm & amazing saves/dives.
The surrounding crowd was growing to watch them dual and by about the 6th 'inning' the keepers were high fiving each other on their passing/retreat to the 18 and into the hotseat for the next round.

Another amazing save, with keeper crumpled on ground, but wait....the 'saved' ball bounces out 2 metres in front of the goal line/net, then back spins back over the horrified keeper's reclined position into the goal.

Well, there was an audible silence, then a whistle, gasps & cheers. My own U17 team standing by hadn't seen that before!

Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer

Good decision by the referee. The goal was taken fairly and in accordance with the Law.

Count it - I'm impressed that the goalkeepers were able to stop that many chances though...
