Question Number: 17901Law 1- The Field 11/13/2007RE: Adult Andy of Vieren, NRW Germany asks...This question is a follow up to question 17121 Is there any truth that the National Champions playing at home are permitted to use a particular type of corner flag?
If so where would such a rule be documented?
Keep up the brilliant work refs...without them football would become stale, sterile encounters. Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol They certainly are permitted to use a particular type of corner flag - one with a post at least 1.5 m (5 feet) tall and without a pointed top. This is found in Law 1, the Field of Play. It's interesting that the Law addresses the flagpost only - it does not say that the post has to have a flag, nor give any specifications for color, size, shape, etc. There may be league-specific rules.
