Question Number: 18539Law 15 - Throw In 3/14/2008RE: Under 17 steven of sydney, nsw australia asks...can a goal be scored from A throw in thanks
great site you should get payed Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol No goal may be scored directly from a throw-in - the ball must touch another player from either team before it counts. It's very similar to an indirect free kick.
Thanks for your vote of confidence. Do you have any influence with Management?

View Referee Ben Mueller profileAnswer provided by Referee Richard Dawson No goal can be scored directly (as in the ball does not touch ANY of the other 21 players on its way crossing completely over the goal line, under the crossbar and between the posts) from the throw in. If the ball DIRECTLY goes into your own goal via a throw-in it is a corner kick.
If the ball goes DIRECTLY into the opposition's goal via a throw -in it is a goal kick.
If any other player from either team so much as gets a legal tick of the ball then the goal would be permitted. This also includes application of advantage on any fuzzy illegal contact.
