Question Number: 20068

League Specific 9/26/2008

RE: College

lekanyane of PETALING JAYA, SELANGOR, MALAYSIA Malaysia asks...

This question is a follow up to question 20066

What i mean about the game forfeit is that,is it possible for the team that took free points to win the league with some unplayed games while other teams played all the games.

Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson

Again it would depend on the league policy if points are awarded for a victory simply by showing up or if the game is terminated because of conduct or actions of a team illegal players, violent conduct etc...Then likely yes. In some cases the games missed must be made up if there is no fault attributed or if the competition rules specify. HOWEVER< it really depends on the league or association bylaws for awarding points. A win in the win column is x amount of points whether you are 6 to 0 in a 73 terminated minute contest or 1 to 0 due to a no show, if there are issues it generally is with goals for and against.
We really cannot help you resolve this it is an issue locally made and thus must be locally solved!
Cheers
